DA0LRS, "Alte Weser", 2002

Once again we tried to activate the old lighthouse "Roter Sand", but this time a storm and rough seas prevented our access. We therefore diverted our expedition to the nearby LH, "Alte Weser". This LH was built from 1961-1964 in the open sea South of Helgoland island. "Alte Weser" assumed the LH responsibilities of "Roter Sand" on Sept. 1, 1964. It functions as a radar station and is part of the Vessel Traffic Service System of the river Weser.
